Container ship aground off Nuuk in Greenland

The 11.811DWT large container ship Vega Sagittarius went Thursday morning 16/8 aground approximately 12 miles west of Nuuk in Greenland. There is bored a hole in the hull, but there is no danger to the ship which is high on the rocky ground. No people were injured.

Thursday evening was that, despite the hole in the hull, made ​​forsg to pull it less than a year old container ship off the ground, but without success.

Tug OCEAN DELTA from Quebec City, Canada, is underway and should be there Tuesday morning.

Vega Sagittarius was freed this morning by tugs Ocean Delta and Sea Tiger. Docked in Nuuk.

Though this forum is a leading source for ship related information it has now come up with the latest news that a container ship aground off Nuuk in Greenland. The good thing was no one was injured in this incident.
