according to:
http://www.portalmorski.pl/statki/wypadki-ratownictwo-sar/32476-pozar-kontenerowca-na-srodku-atlantyku

the missing one is from Philippines and the lost crewmember was from Poland
despite using "polsteam" for my nick I have NO personal (professional) or business connections with the company of the same name

I'm far away from the sea to Hamburg I have a longer distance as to Venice or Genova. My favorite is the Suez Canal, Panama Canal and since 2006 also Chinese harbours.

Is it my imagination or does MSC have more than its share of serious incidents at sea, etc.?
My blog with narrative and more photos is located at:

read the introduction and also there are about 5 different blogs of ships and railroads

Yes and No
The vessel belongs to NSB a german company. However it seems that the fire broke out in
a hold. Most probably then through cargo inside a container. Wrong stowed or IMO cargo which not supposed to be stowed in a hold etcetc
The stowage of the cargo inside container is not done by NSB or MSC but by the shipper, which can be a company in the middle of nowhere 100,s or more km away from any port.
In general the containers are not opened and checked when loaded, also when there is a regulation that a Master of a ship has to control that the cargo !!!inside!!! a container is properly stowed.  Imagine that on a 10000 TEU container vessels and the Mastet lets open the containers for inspection.  Virtually impossible. Capt,s are in that matter and with it the ships/linr services at the mercy of the company who stow the container.  At present it is even not assured/done that every container is weighted before loading !!!! The weight is given by the shippers and taken as such, So imagine then to check the stow !!!
But in general, MSC/the ships owners are in this matter totally depended on the infos the shippers give them.  Same think on the Reina,, the Capt takes a short cut,, is that MSC fault ?   Somehow I think as Capt by myself, not.
But you are right when you say,,they have more incidents then others

NOW!!!,,,if we could get rid of the sailors,,how safe shipping would be !!!!!!!!
