Interior Design and Living Help

Hi,

I am working on a story right now set on an island in Central America, and part of the story revolves around a cargo/container ship carrying a large supply of equipment and material and machinery to make large buildings.

I am trying to figure out how the interior of these ships works. Where do people live, sleep, play, eat, etc...? Is there a blueprint for this? Is all the cargo stored outside the ship? How many levels are below deck? How do people get from level to level? Do they have places to keep pets, animals, etc...? What are their bathrooms like? What are their bathrooms connected to? Are there business offices of any sort in them for the executives/managers in charge of the transport/operations? This is a modern to futuristic ship, not one before the the early 70's.

All help would be greatly appreciated!
