West African ship
« on: April 09, 2012, 05:10:33 PM »
Hi, I'm looking into an accident report off the coast of Ghana.  One of the vessels involved would have been traveling from East to West, perhaps from Tema Port on the morning of March 10th 2012.

The vessel is described as having an orange hull and is otherwise white.  It had a ramp at the stern, and an eagle painted in blue on the bow.  Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Just an idea:

Grimaldi Lines? Grande Nigeria was in that area (Cotonou, March 05, 2012) and Grande Ghana, Cotonou March 15

But I don't know anything about an eagle painted on the bow.

Despite their West African connections, I would say a Grimaldi Lines ship is unlikely as they have yellow hulls (not orange) which have "Grimaldi Lines" painted in large letters. Very easily identifiable.

Grimaldi's GRANDE ATLANTICO sailed Tema westwards on 9/3/2012
I think that some would describe the colour as orange rather than yellow.  She does have a blue script "G" on the bow.

Same applies to GRANDE NIGERIA which sailed Lagos 9/3/2012 but only arrived Tema 12/3/2012.

Cannot find any other yellow/orange/red roros sailing from ports east of Tema at that time - which is not to say that there wasn't one.
