weathership Cumulus
« on: January 09, 2006, 02:37:58 PM »
The weathership Cumulus is newly build as Weathership in the Netherlands in 1963. The ship is used by Dutch RLD and KNMI. In 1986 the ship is loaned to England and used by Ministy of Defence, MET OFF and managed by J. Marr Ltd. Till 1996 is the ship used by the British as weathership on the ocean.

How can tell where it is gone after the British period? Is it scrapt, sold, laid up.

Regards

Peter

Peter, Thanks for your info, the Cirrus and Cumulus exchanged position in the North Atlantic as weatherships, both were under Dutch flag, Both were rebuilt old fregats,
I believe if the Cumulus was built in 1968 the old one was most likely scrapped, same as Cirrus, I do have a picture of the old Cirrus if you are interested

Excellent. I saw this yacht in Devonport dockyard at Plymouth during April 1999 and couldn't find any info on her at the time.

Thanks

Bob
