latest photo comments

Dear members,

We have now an enlarged box for the latest photo comments.
The reason was that members did not see the interesting latest remarks because the box contained only the last five messages.
By silent agreement we ended now messages like "nice shot", etc.
May I suggest that we also end messages like "IMO xxxx" or "Typo 'name'" ?
Better to send such info to the member that posted the picture on the website in a personal message.

An other remark about the language on this website.
We have a lot of foreign members, some do not understand English very well but try their best.
Can we avoid the "fast language" like typo, lol, asap, etc?
In the way we can keep it a website for the whole world instead of the UK/USA.

I agree with both comments by Pieter.

Most members who do not have English as their first language are very much better at English than the rest of us are with their language(s).

It is one of the joys of this site that we can communicate with fellow enthusiasts from all around the world.

First of all let me say that I very much appreciate the time and effort members put into giving/correcting missing/wrong IMO numbers and names of ships. In the end we all benefit from that (me included)!:-)

BUT as Pieter suggested could we agree on doing these corrections/additions via personal message? Just lately I almost saw nothing but IMO numbers and ship names in the latest-photo-comments-box...

Sounds all very logical and I agree in principle.
But quite a few personal messages just disappear into the ether - perhaps the member never looks at messages, can't be bothered to make changes - or is not even an active member anyway.  It least the info in the comments box is available to all.

I have been correcting names and adding IMO numbers as soon as I see the comments in the comments box. Others admins do the same.

I agree with both comments from Pieter.

Most members do not have English as their first language is much better in English than the rest of us with their language (s).

This is one of the joys of this site we can communicate with fellow fans from around the world.
