Then sent to Brazil

Karpowership is proud to be part of the Brazilian energy sector and to contribute to the country's energy generation and efficiency.

In Brazil since 2022, the company's main project in the country is the implementation and operation of 4 floating thermal power plants and a floating gas storage and regasification unit (FSRU) (LNG).

The vessels are anchored in Sepetiba Bay, in the city of Itaguaí, Rio de Janeiro, and have a total installed capacity of 560 MW.

The project is 100% completed and began operating in September 2022, making it fully available to the Brazilian energy system. The power plants generate clean and reliable energy using natural gas. The energy generated passes through 41 transmission towers and reaches the homes of thousands of Brazilians.

The Powerships are highly efficient, fully integrated, combined-cycle facilities that can be deployed almost immediately and therefore do not require carbon-intensive land-based infrastructure. They can be "unplugged" and reinstalled elsewhere, with minimal environmental impact after decommissioning.

KPS-60 ESRA SULTAN (IMO 9116967)

Built in 1996 by Hyundai Heavy Industries Co Ltd Ulsan South Korea as SKS TANA for Obo Ship Two Ltd , flag Bermuda.

1997 Transferred to SKS Obo Holding Ltd, flag Norway.

2008 New manager: SKS Obo & Tankers AS, flag Norway.

2016 Sold to Karpower Americas Company Limited (Karmarine Karadeniz Denizcilik ve Ticaret SA Istanbul Turkey as manager), flag Monrovia Liberia.

Renamed KARADENIZ POWERSHIP ESRA SULTAN.

She was used as a tanker, to send fuel to the various floating power plants.

In 2017 the company decided that each country must supply fuel to the different floating power plants.

In October 2017 the tanker was sold to be cut up, not scrapped.

By March 2018 the ship had been cut up and the company was only looking for the bow and tanks.

It arrived in Yalova Turkey in mid-2018 and they transformed it into a floating power plant with a generation capacity of 80 MW.

In 2019 it was completed and launched under the name KPS-62 ELA SULTAN.

The ships arrived in Cuba at the beginning of 2019, on top of the ZHEN HUA 33 ship.

And it is generating electricity of Cuba.

In 2023 it was sent to the Dominican Republic.

Karpowership signed its first project in the Dominican Republic in 2022’s last quarter to generate 180 MW of electricity in the Dominican Republic.

The company is operational in Azua since 2023.

We are in the Dominican Republic with 2 powerships which are the:

KPS-26 IREM SULTAN and KPS-60 ESRA SULTAN

A fire broke out on 10/29/2023 in one of the auxiliary engines of the barge KPS-60 ESRA SULTAN operated by Karpowership in the Dominican Republic, in Los Negros, Azua province.

The information was confirmed by the representative of the Turkish company Karadeniz Powership, Carlos Matamoros, who indicated that the fire occurred between 9:30 am and 10:00 am this Sunday and that it was put out.

He stated that the fire broke out in one of the auxiliary engines used to heat the fuel.

He said that due to the fire "no personnel were affected, nor was there any spillage, nor was there any effect on the plant's generation".

"It was only an incident, it did not cause major damage and the barge has specialized fire brigades and they put it out themselves".
