@Phil English
....................said the emperor to his people.
Have you ever thought why long lasted member delete their photos?
As long as I am a member is there the problem with the deletion policy, how many member have deleted all their photos in the past 10 years?
If you have an orgasmus you can delete my account and the remaining 2990 photos, it saves me a long tome to delete them all by hand.

Without Brgds.

@Paul,
the Rijnborg photo is now 8 years old, but until today there is a big difference between obstruction and obstruction, between uploader an uploader and admin and admin.
Is a passenger ship in e.g. Port of Sydney with 2 tugs or a bunker boat alongsinde not obstructed?

@csaba
Go to Marinetraffic and search for my account, you find all my photos, and MT is happy to receive such photos which will be deleted here.

@Daniel,
I received many emails like yours, but the photo was not good enough for SS in 2010 because the ship was obstructed by trees, not by twigs.
Not much in the deletion policy has changed since then.

Some years ago I had uploaded this photo:

https://photos.marinetraffic.com/ais/showphoto.aspx?photoid=339222&size=1600

It was considered for deletion, reason: Obstructed by trees.
My reaction was to delete all my 22 000 uploaded photos, took me many, many days.

And now I see a photo with 4 tugboats alongside, this ship is not obstructed by tugs?

2 different interpretations or we have new rules?

I have only 4200 photos left to be deleted.

The photo at right side was taken with a drone and was considered for deletion because it was too similare to the photo left which was taken at a fully different location and different time, and the angle of changing ist at least 40 - 50°, says the admin.
Thats why I have started to delete all my 6754 photos and stop any further support, I have reached now 5200, dayly decreasing.

@Pekka, I remember this action very well and I have learned my lesson.
What I do not know exactly is the name of the moderator, but this is not so very important, isn't?

Long, long dekades ago there was a professional photographer in Hamburg, his name was Gustav Boedecker with 100 000 or 200 000 or more photos from ships all over the world coming to Hamburg.
If you need a special ships photo, just ask Boedecker, he had a photo.
When he died in 2000 or so a bookchandler Hafenfuchs purchased all the photos including all rights from the children of Mr. Boedecker.
Many, many german websites, DDG Hansa, Chr. Biedekarken, Peter Hartung, Poseidon etc,etc. had photos from Boedecker on their webseites when Mr. Hafenfuchs started a trial against these website owners, and he won the trial because of mass copyright violation of his photos.

An extract from a forum, dated 2009 in german language, but I think Google can help to translate.
http://forum-schiff.de/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=1463&start=110

But one special sentence:

Von den 13 betroffenen Webmastern sind 3 oder 4 nachgeblieben, der Rest hat wegen geringen Beträgen gezahlt. Thomas Kraft und ich haben seit langen einen Rechtsawalt mit unseren Interessen beauftragt.

Translation; From the 13 involved webmaster 9 or 10 have paid the demands (many 1000 Euros)of Hafenfuchs, the other 3 or 4 have hired a lawyer.

Finally all the Hafenfuchs (Boedecker photos) have been removed from the websites, or the websites have been closed.

I remember what happened shortly after I became a member here in May 2006.
I had uploaded a birds view photo from a beautiful portuguese cargo ship, of course without copyright and permission.
The finnish moderator that time, (was it Pekka Laakso or Alexi Lindstroem ?), contacted me and advised me to delete the photo immediately, but I ignored. Then he contacted me again and gave me 1 hour to delete the photo, otherwise he would suspend my account. Such warning also should be given to Gena Anfimov.

But now I hope the present Admins will take necessary action, if not I go.
I have not uploaded all my photos I made withinh the last days, I will just wait and see.

@Clyde, I have nothing against old, historic photos, but the copyright or explicit permission to upload must be clear.

Hi @ll dear shipspotter.

I found 4060 stolen photos in the Instagram-account by spanish user @perebisa
https://www.instagram.com/perebisa/?hl=de

All the photos were taken from Marinetraffic, but many, many of these photos are also uploaded from Shipspotting-member.

I could manage with 2 reports to Instagram that 85 of my stolen photos were deleted, but that guy continues every day with uploading.

Owen,
I can report about dozends of managing directors contaccting me every year.
Indeed, some of them are paying for my photos but most of them are not willing to pay.
And I check especially these companies every 3 month looking for one of my photos they have "borrowed" after cutting off my watermark.
