1  Shipspotters all over the world / Trip reports / Shipspotting in Soutampton 19.5 and 22.5.17 on: May 18, 2017, 09:16:31 am
Hi all,
on the way to WSS annual meeting I have on Friday 19.5.2017 some hours  and the whole monday time for shipspotting in SOU. I read a lot of passengervessels will be there at this time.
What is the best place for spotting. I think I will go to Hythe ( where I will sleep from Sunday to Monday) and take the ferry. Is there another place in walk distance? What about a trip on monday to the isle of wright?
Thakns for your help

4  Shipspotters all over the world / Help and Advice / Re: Stade, River Elbe on: April 08, 2017, 07:17:42 pm
Hi PietB,
near Stade is Stadersand. The perfect location for spotting ships. The ships are very very close in front of you. A small selfservice restaurant with a balcony is also there. The food is cheap and good, also they have toilettes.
To come there you need a car.  I think there is no public transport. When i'm in the north i always visit this place. Another good place is Lühe some km down to Hamburg.
If you have any questions send a p.m.
Thanks

Peter
5  Shipspotters all over the world / Shipping News and information / Cape Leonidas blocks the Elbe on: January 17, 2017, 01:53:11 pm
the 7 years old,  300 m long bulker  Cape Leonidas loaden with coal (?) from Narvik blocks the river Elbe in front of Kollmar.
the Cape Leonidas has a break down of the engine. 4 Tugs are on side. Actually ships with a length under 150m can pass all others has to wait inbound round Helgoland or outbound in her harbourplaces.

but nothing about shipscrapping. Also not in Germany. For shipscrapping you must look to turkey,  Pakistan, India and BANGLADESH.
Wky are you interested?
