Portuguese trawler “Rosamar” sank on Dec 5th, 2008 at 09.00 am. The vessel capsized and went down due to strong gale in the area. “Rosamar” sank 24 nm to north San Cibrao and Emergency position indicating radiobeacon was activated. Spanish MRCC Finisterre sent to distress area 2 rescue helicopters “Pesca II” and “Helimer Cantabrico”, also rescue boats “Salvamar Alioth” and “Salvamar Shaula” proceed. Rescue aircraft “Rosalia de Castro” and salvage tugs “Maria de Maeztu” and “Hermanos Garcia Nodal” was on scene. Five people was rescued by helicopter “Pesca II” and 3 bodies, 5 crew are still missing and rescue tugs are searching the zone.
