1  Shipspotters all over the world / Site related news, functions and modules / Is the site under attack? on: July 24, 2017, 01:45:09 pm
There's something wrong with the site. It doesn't appear to be functioning correctly. On some of miraflores pictures of CLARA and those of dragec's HEINO, the Like link is missing.

But, saying that, if a photo was to be taken of a vessel directly from behind, you wouldn't necessarily see it at anchor, therefore if historical accuracies are what we're after on this site maybe it's something which could have been considered. (Not one to press my point home though!)  Cheesy  Wink

Can't seem to upload a small photo of myself to profile like others can.

Some interesting and genuinely positive ideas here. Yes Pieter, I can see where you're coming from.

Emmanuel, yes I agree. I wonder how many postings by contributors are still in that "dead zone" and not in the obligatory category.

Hi Russell,

Thanks for the informative report. I too would like to, one day, go sightseeing via car around that area. I found there were lots going on but if you're in or near Piraeus it's seems to be only the same old ferries turning up. Drapetsona looks interesting from afar but getting close enough for decent photo's appears to have a fair few hurdles.

I've read through some previous notes on the forum re: new categories. Wondered if such a category could be for "Vessels at anchor". I seem to take a lot of photo's of vessels in such a circumstance.

Hey john,

That's interesting because it matches my predicament perfectly. I'm at "peak age", (post-50's). The bottom line is, stick with hobbies & remain single OR get with a lady & as you say begin a "boring suburban existence" BUT not grow old lonely. It seems there are an unbelievable amount of lonely people in the UK (not sure if the same can be said in other countries). No-one knows what life is about to throw at you. If we all had a crystal-ball I wonder what the world would be like. No-one would ever take chances I guess.

Hi there,

It's certainly a very in depth topic and thanks for the continued input on this rather (from my point of view) delicate subject. She is not aware of my passion for the subject and I have been wary to reveal it, subject to the ridicule which usually follows in such circumstances.

@MrsD thanks for the lady's point of view. I didn't know you existed until now !

Hey guys,

Hmm, some very interesting & thought-provoking answers. Certainly not an easy one this.  I finally feel like I'm doing something worthwhile being on here. Working in a team as it were, and then BANG !! This bird starts making eyes at me for the last 8 years. So, I'm thinking this could be getting serious. What to do ?? Well, consult the team first and see what they come up with.

Will keep posting photo's but it might start to taper off........... !! thanks for the heads-up though.

Hey all,

So i was wondering if any of you have given something up that you really liked for a lady?

Looking to put this Shipspotting malarkey on hold for a while if not indefinitely. Besides, we are geeks are we not & most, if not all women, think we are a bit weird.

Advice needed please

Hi all,

I know it's the done thing in Greece and perhaps other countries for a fast turnaround but is this type of activity safe?
Ramps being lowered before docking.

Hi Patrick,

Is that the sort of camera where you can bolt extra lenses on and risk dust on the lens?

Never had a camera like that myself, always had a fixed lens but wondered if it was worth taking the risk (as everyone does) of indulging myself with that type of camera.

Regards,
