16  Shipspotters all over the world / Shipping News and information / Wrong Infos for vessel on: May 11, 2011, 09:55:22 am
Hello together

May it is the wrong place to ask but how comes that sometimes the wrong automatic info in ship details  are given. As example the Dublin Express - wrong info about her original name , flag and so on and so on.

Category: Containerships built 2001-2010
IMO: 9232577
MMSI : 235597000
Callsign : VQEN3
Flag : United Kingdom

or
Ship Name: MAERSK DALE
IMO: 9232577
MMSI: 235597000
Callsign: VQEN3
Flag: United Kingdom

The Dublin Express  was build and sailed first as
Contship Australis
later on the vessel had for some time the name Maersk Dale but since almost 3 years the vessel is sailing as Dublin Express under German Flag (not UK) with the callsign DDSB2.
Who is updating this datas, for sure they are not amateurs (who will do such a amount of work) but on the other Side if they are professionals I would expect to have after tree years their program updated.

19  Shipspotters all over the world / Site related news, functions and modules / Re: 1 Million Photos on: December 14, 2010, 12:42:31 pm
Hello

by reading this thread discussions was also started about the new site itself. As  members already said before we had enough time to give our suggestions so donīt blame the guys behind this new site. On the other hand I have to admit that I also are not really satisfied with the new design. Specially this "most viewed section" is for me nonsense, better show the last 5 pics.
Itīs look like that it is a bit of competition which is actually not the intention of this site (I believe so).You need a sample.īMy pics from the wreck of the "Azurra" and the bow of "Fiemme" they got real big interest but actually what is nice at this pic "Nothing" itīs just or may be interesting but they had been at the top of Most viewed section list which in my eyes was not worth it. For me it would be much more positiv to get a feedback for such a pic of the "New Giant" which I made during a Panama Canal transit but..... it looks like that most "viewers" are not really interested anymore in "normal ships".

and to end the discussion, I also see that the quality of pics is going down, it seems that quantity counts more. Itīs a pity.

Best regards

P.A. I am able to live with deletions(even sometimes I do not understand at all the decision of the admins) so I will not delete my pics.

24  Shipspotters all over the world / Shipping News and information / "Reefers" sold for scrap on: April 22, 2010, 08:56:54 am
Hello
Two more beauties will disappear fromthe oceans. According to a Lloyds List from 20.April.2010 the reefers Sun Emerald and Selma are sold for demolation in India
Prices in neighbouring India dipped slightly but Alang breakers still managed to secure two reeferships on private terms. Norbulk Shipping’s 1983-built, 5,689 ldt Sun Emerald and the 1979-built 4,564 ldt Selma , operated by Holy House Shipping, were both reported sold to India at undisclosed prices.

For me as a sailor  (since 1982) it is always a highlight to see this design of ships on the oceans. But they getting less and less same as with the SD 14 and Freedom or Fortune Types as well the German Cargo ships build in the seventies. Itīs  a pity

26  Shipspotters all over the world / Help and Advice / Shipspotting Photos used for Company website on: March 15, 2010, 12:20:00 pm
Hello
under www.oltship.de you will find under "AktuelleSchiffe" some pics which are out of shipspotting. May the specific members give their o.k.may not. For me, as long as the shipping companies ask for permission to do that, it is okay, and at least they should give some info about the copyright.

30  Shipspotters all over the world / Help and Advice / Pictures used on other websites on: November 28, 2009, 06:26:19 pm
Hello

Today I found  one of my pics on a Website named (Eaglespeak.us).My name as copyright was mentioned but i never gave my o.k. to make this pic public on this page.
Actually the term " from Shipspotting.com and used in accord with Shipspotting terms of use." is used.
May I am blind but where I can find this terms of use. Only to mention that many pictures used for piracy reports in this website are out of shipspotting.
I am not quite sure this website is officially by US Goverment (Navy part) made  or by a  private citizen.

May someone has an idea

Best regards
