1  Shipspotters all over the world / Help and Advice / Re: Looking for 1973 Napoléon Bonaparte Ship on: April 21, 2013, 09:29:23 am
Hello Jonathan,

Are you sure about name or year you wrote ? In my mind, there was no ferry called "Napoleon Bonaparte" in 1973 but "Napoleon" existed and she was a ferry. I believe "Napoleon Bonaparte" existed several years before but was not a ferry...

You can join me directly by mail (see my profile) and in French.

Regards.

Hello,

Many thanks for your answer. But I do not understand what you mean by "this was imposed upon us"...

Regards.

8  Shipspotters all over the world / Trip reports / Re: Marseille, Shipspotting in Marseille, France on: May 23, 2012, 01:30:34 pm
Hello,

One of the most pleasant place is Pharo's park, historical place (see joined map). It is located at entrance of Vieux Port and is easy to reach from dowtown. Not the best place for cruise ships but convenient for ferries and some other ships. Other places I know are most difficult to reach (if you do not have a car) and authorisation from authority is requested. Usually, authorisation is granted if you contact port authorities several days before.

10  Shipspotters all over the world / Help and Advice / Re: can anyone identify this ship ? on: April 02, 2011, 01:23:24 pm
Hello to all,

As said Derek, this ship seems to be Monza.

United European Car Carrier had several French built carcarriers from 1974 to 1981 :

Built at Le Havre :
Arnage 1974 later Estoril (picture of Arnage is here : http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=195694)
Mulsanne 1974 later Goodwood
Tertre Rouge 1976 later Donington
Hunaudières 1976 later Hockenheim

They were named (at time of launch) with name of sections of famous car race track of "24 hours of Le Mans".

Built at La Rochelle Pallice :
Monza 1972
Montlhéry 1982
Le Castellet 1981

Here are 2 pictures of Monza :

According to a local newspaper, amount of the debts is 2,4 millions € and the ship could stay anchored at Villefranche until the decision of the court but date is unknown.
12  Shipspotters all over the world / Help and Advice / Re: Bergen information, please. on: September 01, 2010, 11:30:01 pm
Hello,

Many things to do and to see there. Maritime museum is very interesting and visitors always warm welcomed. Harbour is downtown located and you can have a lot of pictures of several kind of ships (old-preserved, special purpose for offshore, cruiseships...).

Have a nice trip.

I totally agree with this proposition, too.

Let's go further : acceptance is not automatic AND you have to wait 24 hours before beeing accepted AND you can't download a picture from this site if you don't have already uploaded some pictures to thIs site (let's say maybe 5 pics).

Sorry to learn these bad news about Derek's health. We all know the importance of his work for the site and the friendly way he answered our questions and tried to solve problems.

Wish to him a speed recovery. Regards to everybody.
