The last and final part of my trip out on the Svitzer Deben.

https://youtu.be/xqFofxbznAk

Without the skilful captains on the Svitzer tugs, these mega ships would not be able to come into Felixstowe.

I would like to thank the team at Svitzer Felixstowe for organising my trip. Thank you again. Best wishes to you all. Dean

From onboard Svitzer Deben, the Matz Maersk makes her approach for Felixstowe. The Deben makes fast centre lead aft and shows an incredible angle as they go out for a powered in-direct on the port quarter then a port swing with 2 other tugs for Felixstowe Berth 9.

Visit my YouTube channel to see the Cosco Shipping Himalayas arrive to the Port of Felixstowe. While she was making her swing to port, the dredger Ham 316 was dredging between Berth 9 and the Fort Buoy blocking the view of some of the swing. https://youtu.be/-V6awvAfdVM

New build Cosco Shipping Himalayas displaying the new Cosco/China shipping colours.  The 366 metre Cosco Shipping Himalayas arrives to the Port of Felixstowe as the Suffolk coast was being battered by storm force winds. The pilot requests 3 Svitzer tugs for berthing.

At a cut price aswell.  It's time we started making our own things again instead of importing it from the Far East.

I believe Gcaptain tried to be the first to get the story out before all the information was there.

14  Shipspotters all over the world / Shipping News and information / Why the Maersk Battler lost the tow of the 2 PSV's heading for scrap. on: August 31, 2017, 07:02:08 pm
The Maersk Searcher and Maersk Shipper had been prepared to be scrapped when soon after while on tow a major incident occurred.  In the build up to the sinking of the PSV's the planner was made redundant as Maersk were doing a sweep of redundancies across the board but never thought it would have such serious consequences. A trainee was but on the job but his inexperience showed when the plan headed for rough seas. http://maritime-executive.com/article/repeated-collisions-led-to-maersk-psv-sinkings
15  Shipspotters all over the world / Shipping News and information / Singapore based Rickmers Maritime cease trading. on: August 31, 2017, 08:35:22 am
Close to a year since Hanjin declared they were in serious finacial trouble. Rickmers Maritime have explored many ways to stay afloat even sending the youngest container ship to the scrap yard just shy of 8 years old and was dubbed a crisis in the Container market. But their only option was to call I'm liquidators and try to give some creditors some money to them.
