34  Shipspotters all over the world / Site related news, functions and modules / Re: Error in Ship indentification on: August 27, 2016, 06:12:27 am
Huh???
Your Gross Tonnage observation seems way out of line with the error in description of Pacific Treasures.

The definition of gross tonnage provided by a GOOGLE search is the following:  "...Gross tonnage (often abbreviated as GT, G.T. or gt) is a nonlinear measure of a ship's overall internal volume. Gross tonnage is different from gross register tonnage. Neither gross tonnage nor gross register tonnage should be confused with measures of mass or weight such as deadweight tonnage or displacement..."

 Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh

How does your gross tonnage remark relate to the mis-identification of Pacific Treasures?
Oldkyaker as its been said before the ADMIN are NOT responsible for the info.

Hi Pieter,

This shot in the link is one at almost full 50x optical zoom taken with the SONY HX400V from a moving ferry www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=2502169 Al I have done to the photo was crop and sharpen a bit. I let everyone be the judge but for a camera around $500-600 Aust dollar it does all right. I am at a guess you can you use a monopod I use a tripod with it for night shoots.

Hello Denis,
Since late last year I have been using a SONY DXC-HX400V with 20.4 megapixels and 50x optical zoom with Carl Zeiss lens. My opinion Sony make the best cameras and Carl Zeiss the best lenses but that's only my opinion.

Hello Carlos,

I have been involved with other websites where photos must be screened by photo admin before the photo is displayed on the website. This can take as little as hours to days or even weeks it just depends on the workload of the admin team which is frustrating for the photographer as well as the admin team.We are lucky we don't have that system here.

As Dennis said sometimes a photo that should have been deleted slips under the radar, admin cant check every singe photo that is uploaded

It's amazing the administrative policy of this website. You have taken my post to talk about a certain Tomas Pinas then turned out to be not guilty, but my post administration has not been delivered yet. Sincerely disappointed. Every day proves more I raised my.

Carlos,
Your not the only one that has photos deleted from the site because they haven't met site standards.Everyone who upload photos here including myself have had there's deleted over time and i have a lot that i would like to upload on the site but they wont meet site standards and know they will be deleted so i don't upload them.
Its not the end of the world its just a hobby just keep uploading photos and enjoy your hobby.
Regards,Paul

Wow that's going to one very expensive refurbishment. The ship would have to be cut in half in two places to remove the old boilers and engines,as well as surveying ,repairing and decontamination of a 60 year old hull before any refurbishment can start.
45  Shipspotters all over the world / Help and Advice / Re: Photo removal on: May 28, 2016, 05:34:49 am

A photo of a ship with just it in it, tends to be boring.
Thats what the site is about photos with ships.
