Title: ISPS charges
Post by: portagent on January 02, 2006, 06:39:31 PM
Contrary to most of the container terminals charging carriers with an ISPS fee per container, US West Coast ports including Vancouver, Tacoma, Seattle and Portland start charging ISPS per vessel as from now on, ranging between USD 250 and USD 600 per day.

Regardless the basis you charge on, it will always remain a good way to make extra money.
I know a lot of people getting "golden balls" from security business or so called.

UK ISPS charges are due to be standardised. Where in the past the line has been responsible for collecting export ISPS but clearing agents have collected import ISPS, shipping lines will now collect a standard fee on import and export. This is probably going to be GBP 5.50 (port security) for each port, although I can only imagine that shipping lines will seek to cancel out any subsequent losses by increasing the carrier security fee!

I'd prefer to see HMCE collecting ISPS fees but that's just my humble opinion. Any thoughts guys?
