Hi all,
Noticed that these two Chinese containerships recently got posted on the site here:
XIN BEI HAI: http://www.shipspotting.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=1173764
XIN JIU ZHOU: http://www.shipspotting.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=1173779
I can't find anything about these ships, neither in Equasis.org, nor in the Miramar Ship Index. I don't even have IMO numbers for them. Maybe they are only employed on domestic services in China? All I could find is that they were both built in 1990 and are both 2986TEU. They look a lot like the long series of ships built for Hanjin in the late 80s.
Can anyone provide some clues as to their identity? Former name(s) perhaps?
Thanks and best regards,
Ralph

I think the first photo could be XIN WEI HAI - IMO 9312573. Still working on the 2nd one.

Thanks Geoff, but I don't think it's the XIN WEI HAI. That one is much bigger and newer than the vessel one the picture...

Yes, very likely employed in Chinese coastal service, where IMO numbers are not required.
You can see them on AIS -
XIN BEIHAI is MMSI 413174000 , callsign BPAK, 240 m length, 32m beam.
XIN JIU ZHOU is MMSI 413175000, callsign BPAL, identical dimensions to XIN BEIHAI
Not that that helps much with their actual identity :-o
- Just thought to search for vessels of 2986 teu and this is one:

Can't find any others in Chinese ownership though

That's great Phil! I will add that info to the comments for these pictures.
Could I ask where you managed to find this info?

Hi Ralph,
It's my job to research ship data and I found the info with the help of some Chinese colleagues.

Hello
Sorry to say that, but looks for me that Xin Bei Hai is different from the Xin Wei Hai. See Here (http://www.vesseltracker.com/de/ShipPhotos/242667-Xin-Wei-Hai-9312573.html)
(accomodation and and Stern arrangement)
Best regards

Nice job Phil, do keep me posted when they have a vacancy ;-)

Actually Ralph, we are looking for someone, but they would have to work in London 8-)

That's a pity, I'm not about to leave The Hague anytime soon. But, it sounds like my dream job :-)
Cheers,
