Post by: Matt Ruscher on November 18, 2005, 05:02:13 PM
Heres the story: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051117/wl_nm/food_poland_gmo_dc_1
do any locals know what ship it is? i cant find the name in any newsreports.
While on the Greenpeace topic, they have a rather informative area on the site about ship breaking seen here, pretty huge coverage on it:

"The weather just got too bad and we couldn't risk the lives of the people attached to the anchor,"
and attaching yourself to the anchor isn't risking your life?

I believe it's Jadroplov's Hope 1.  IMO 8024076, 30,900 DWT, built 1982 at Sunderland, England, ex Bella Dan.  You may have seen it on the Great Lakes during the past few years.

Hello

The ship is "Hope" indeed.

Here is the link to the short fotostory of the incident:

Some of Greenpeace guys look like professional climbers (the one on anchor chain is my favourite:-D)

Best Regards from Poland
