Post by: Marie-Anne on October 31, 2005, 07:51:47 PM
Hello shiplovers,

Who can help me to solve a misterie.
In Antwerp there has just left a ship called MSC Florida.
On Equasis you can find it under the name MSC Floride.

On the pictures of taken by Ron v.d. Velde it's clearly to see the name MSC Florida.

Hi Marie-Anne

I have just checked the MSC website and it is Florida.
It must be a typing error on Equasis (not the first).

Not contributing to solving the mystery, I may add firm (100% sure) information, that there was also a kind of confusion or surprise in the place of the ship construction. The ship was initially named MSC Floride (after being built as Maya Rickmers) and as such (Floride) the ship departed from the shipyard for the sea trials. However during the official delivery ceremony a few weeks later the ship was already called MSC Florida (with names repainted accordingly everywhere).

Thanks for helping us out with the naming problem on the MSC Florida.
Now it's a lot more clearer to me what happend. I can understand it's very easy to misunderstand when something like this happens to the name of a ship.

Thanks again!!
