Hi All,
For a while now i have been told that the Maersk "E" class vessels might be returning to Felixstowe.
This now looks to be the case as on the Port of Felistowe website the "Estelle Maersk" is due to call next Saturday 4th July.
http://www.portoffelixstowe.co.uk/shipping/frmSailingSchedule.aspx
Unfortunately there seems to be a problem with Maersk Lines schedules on their website and am unable to view them but this may not be a one off.
Am planning to make the journey to catch her depending upon the weather!

Andrew and myself got some good sunburn!
I think I got a few decent shots. I shall sort them out this evening.

Kelvin, I hope you and Andrew got some good shots from Landguard - I was at Shotley and have uploaded two of mine - she looked some spectacular passing those 'smaller' Maersks on the berths.

Krispen,
We got a few; I have posted them this morning:

It did look odd alongside those other ships. From where we were, it looked as if it was overlapping the Maersk Danbury and even after it was moored, it still looked as if it was waiting for a push from the tugs!
It was a long drive but I am glad I did it.

What exactly is the clearance on those cranes in Felixstowe?! It might be the viewing angle, but I could swear that Estelle is loaded higher than the cranes... On the Eleonora, we had to heel the ship away from the quay in order for the cranes to pass by in several ports in Europe (even with the boom up). The Chinese cranes had higher clearance, so the biggest problem there was making sure that containers weren't loaded too high for the destination port! Loading these ships have caused many chief mates quite a few gray hairs.
These ships might be very enjoyable to shipspot, but they are a royal pain to work on!

Morten,
I don't think they have any problem at Felixstowe.
I have posted a photo of a few of the berths, with the Estelle Maersk alongside.
Even though the ship is fairly high in the water, there seems to be plenty of room as the crane jibs are level with the bridge'

Hi Kelvin,
Thanks for the info... It looks like they are the same height as other "euro-cranes", so it was just the pictures of her departure that threw me off...
