Title: Searching for a ship
Post by: oldtimer on August 15, 2005, 10:42:36 am
Can anyone tell me why if I search for a ship by name I sometimes get no results, however if I search for the same ship by IMO it finds a match. Example: MARIA C, IMO 9103166
This has happened a few times recently, unfortunately not everyone includes the IMO, so that is usually an unreliable way to search.

Regards
Alan

Alan,

if you use the advance search function and choose 'exact match' when searching for a ship name, you should find what you are looking for. It certainly works for Maria C.

Incidentally, I notice you posted your query to the shipping news forum. I think that the main shipspotting forum would have been more appropriate. Just an observation.
