Good afternoon,
I'm Emma, a volunteer from Locate International. We review unsolved unidentified body and missing persons cases at no cost to families or the police.
Over forty years ago, on the 21st February 1979, a body of a man washed ashore Porth Minick beach on St Mary

Good day Madam,
Many ships casualties are reported by year by Lloyd Register on https://hec.lrfoundation.org.uk/archive-library/casualty-returns
But small fishing vessels, naval vessels and pleasure crafts wreckages are not listed.
Note that the body could be also a man over board, without wreckage.
Good luck for your investigations.
Regards,
Yvon

Thank you very much Yvon.
All the best,
Emma

I checked the French weekly newspaper 'Le Marin' for October, November and December 1978 and January 1979.
Except the wreckages of merchant ships :
On December 13th, the french trawler ALCYON disappeared with all hands (10), in the South of Irish Sea. Infortunately, I cannot find the crew list except the master's name. Bodies were never recovered.
The NIELSE DANIELSEN's cook (the article reports NIELLE, I assume NIELSE), falled overboard 20 nautical milles, North of Brittany, on December 23rd 1978.
According to Lloyd Register 1979-80, the shipowner was Rederiet Otto Danielsen (Denmark).
Dansk Illustreret Skiblist 1984 gives the address : Otto Danielsen, Toldbodgade 29, 1253 KOPENHAVN K.
Perhaps Danish members will be able to give more up-to-date contacts.

Yvon

Thanks Yvon - I'll look into those now.
Best wishes

Hi,
Please find attached the crew list of the trawler ALCYON.
Apparently no link with the name 'Georgio'.

Yvon

Hi,this is a very sensitive matter but could be any relation between the inscription Georgio and the patron name Georges?
-
Thank you both. What is a patron? Apologies I have limited knowledge in this area. I really appreciate your assistance. Best wishes, Emma
-
Patron = master (for small vessels)
@Victor radio : I don't know the rules about the names on wedding rings and if it is usual to use a nickname. But you are right, every possibility must be explored.
Regards,
Yvon

Thanks both. I've shared this with the team and we'll now conduct some ancestry research into Georges! Thank you. If there are any other shipping incidents of interest please do let me know. Best wishes, Emma

Hi Yvon,
Do you have a link to the article about the NIELSE DANIELSEN's cook?
Thank you so much!

This is very interesting...

We know the inscription on the ring was in Greek. It appears that Nielse Danielsen had a connection with Greece. I wonder how we could find the name of the cook who went overboard?
Best wishes

Red Otto Danielsen still in being. Contact address on web page https://ottodanielsen.com/
If they did lose a cook I'm sure records or memories would confirm.
Address = Rederiet Otto Danielsen A/S , Strandvejen 102E, 2900 Hellerup, Denmark

Thank you Chas - that

Attached the article from the newspaper 'Le Marin'

Yvon, thank you. The team will now search Danish, British, French online newspaper databases (and others) to try and find any further articles with the name of the cook. Thank you so much!

The Nielse Danielsen is Dutch flagged, With port of Register Hoogezand in the north part of the Netherlands.
Danielsen is/was a Danish companpy so I think Nielse Danielsen was on charter.

QUOTE
