Although I don't have a link at hand it has since been confirmed that the passenger in question was just suffering from flu like symptoms and was eventually taken off the vessel to a local hospital for a full check up.

The Costa Smeralda has since continued her cruise ommiting her scheduled call at La Spezia due her late departure.
