Title: Boat/Ship Build Dates
Post by: rmor210 on March 26, 2019, 10:26:44 AM
This is my first use of any forums. I hope I'm not overstepping lines of silliness.
I used to work for David Abels Boatbuilders in Bristol as a Welder and Boat Builder.
I left in the late 1990s. Before I left I was involved in the creation of the tug MCS Lenie - IMO 9522221 (I'm guessing 1997-98) but when I look for it on the any database I'm told that it was built in 2008. Newbie question of the day, but how can this be? Does a refit enable a new build date? Please advise.

Official BV class records confirm that MCS Lenie (IMO 9522221) was built by Damen Shipyards, Hardinxveld, and delivered 29th November 2008.

I think you might be referring to the previous MCS Lenie (IMO 9176735) which was delivered in 1997 and now named "SD Kyle of Lochalsh"

Thanks for this. Suddenly all is clear. Considering I built everything above the deck, you'd think I'd have spotted that the new version is quite a more streamlined. It's odd how time blurs the details sometimes. I'll rest easier now, knowing I haven't gotten involved in some sort of conspiracy.
