Title: Zefyros (IMO 9324382)
Post by: Russell Judge on December 06, 2018, 10:54:57 am
All photos of this vessel (including mine) appear to show a stern ramp.
Why? Surely it just goes into the engine room. Why would a parcel tanker need one?
Has it been converted from something else?
Just curious

The vessel has a garage area at the aft end, above the engine room for the carriage of road tankers which can be driven on and off via the ramp. The vessel operates to Greek islands where infrastructure is such that this approach is worthwhile. A small number of other Greek coastal tankers are similarly configured.

I hope this helps.

Brgds

Phil
Many thanks for that information. It did seem odd but now it's explained, it makes sense.
