Title: Cable layer Maersk Connector at work.
Post by: chrisg46 on September 30, 2018, 01:56:02 PM
Maersk Connector is now laying cable to connect the new East Anglia 1 offshore windfarm with the shore, just near Bawdsey in Suffolk. Here are a couple of video clips showing her at work - the first filmed from the south, about 4 or 5km away, and the second filmed from the north, about 2km away.

Looking at the map Chris, that must have been a bit of a trek from the road.

Great film though

There's a good car park at Eaat Lane, which is right behind a seawall berm and rock defense, and the cable landing point is about half-way between that and the entrance of the R Deben. I walked along the cliff edge (low cliffs) til I found a decent view within reasonable range (800m from car park). . . It was a fairly remote place!
