This seems to be a re-occuring theme with Vega-Reederei. The Vega Auriga had the same issues with unpaid wages and was laid up in Tauranga for a long time before being sold.

MSC Kia Ora arrived Auckland 2nd April at 11am with a full load from Noumea. Her next ports of call are set down as Tauranga and Nelson.

Her days might of been numbered anyway with MSC putting larger vessels on the Kangaroo service, wonder what they will replace her with?
