A serious fire onboard the ultra-large containership Maersk Honam in the Arabian Sea has left four seafarers missing.

Available photos are not clear enough, but it looks like her forward part is on fire, including her main accommodation. This will be a major case for the insurers.

But, from what can be seen here, the vessel is not in danger neither of sinking, nor of to be declared CTL.

Whilst it has been an interesting couple of days for shipping buffs and to a lesser extent the media, it is even more interesting that it hadnt cracked the heavyweights BBC or Australian news. I suppose thats what they call or mean by BLANKET COVERAGE -- not. Of course I may be wrong, but it has been only through colleagues I heard and then read about this news in some article issued from somewhere in the Baltic States- I presume. Have to admit the need to know system worked well. Sad consequences as usual, but the fortunate part being rescue for the majority close at hand by the ALS CERES crew members.

Australian news is useless. I am so over our main 3 networks that won't report good news anymore they just report on crap.

When I see the pictures, They can be glad that the accommodation is that far fwd as it seems that they stopped the fire to the aft which would possibly have engulfed the whole ship considering what happened at the foreship where was nothing spared by the fire.

Three of the four missing crew members from Maersk Honam, which caught fire last week, have been confirmed dead following the discovery of their bodies on board the ship, Maersk announced on 12 March.
