Title: STS Crane of Demolition - O'Brien Demolition

Yet another STS Crane demolished at Felixstowe. The crane next to this one is due to be brought down very soon. A sign of the times of the ULCV ships taking over the main routes

Thanks a lot can you elaborate what is causing the crane to collapse, no explosion nor pulling cable visible on the video.

Hi

There is a pulling cable at the rear of the crane which is faintly visible in the video but much clearer in the still pictures. Some parts of the crane were probably removed or modified to help the collapsing remaining under control.

Hi rgr004

There are cables attatched to strategic points. The reinforcing struts on the crane are cut a certain points, then a combination of IMV's & JCB's pull the crane down from the rear.

Take a look at the chrisg46 vid - as you can see it better and makes more sense.
