Title: MarineTraffic.com
Post by: PietB on March 23, 2017, 07:36:54 PM
All
Has anyone else been having problems with the above site? I seem to have three problems currently: unable to open pictures of vessels, unable to search vessel database and some 'ghost' images coming up on maps e.g. tanker Marika shown in upper reaches of Bristol Channel, but she passed there 10 days ago and is currently elsewhere in the world.

Thanks

Hi PietB

I have had excellent service from Marine Traffic.  I use the free version

If you click on the Support button on the bottom right hand corner of its page and describe your problem you will probably get a message saying:

"Thank you for contacting MarineTraffic.
We received your request (#46727). We'll review it and get back to you as soon as possible!

We read every message, but as we receive quite a lot of requests, please note that in some cases it might take us a bit longer to respond.

In the meantime, feel free to explore our Help Centre for a list of frequently asked questions and community-powered help: http://help.marinetraffic.com

Have a productive rest of your day!

Your MarineTraffic Support"

Good luck
Clyde

Thanks Clyde

Good advice, and will do. I agree that the site is normally excellent.

I use Marine Traffic for AIS information and do not have any problems with it whatsoever. I did, until recently, use Vessel Finder but their AIS has had problems of late and is not showing ships at berth - so that's why I switched to Marine Traffic and it does suit my needs.

I have reported the AIS error to Vessel Finder and they have noted my comments but, as I write, the error is still there.

Thankfully, Marine Traffic gives me what I require and I'm also using their free service - first class!

A friend also reported problems with 'ghost' ships in the Bristol Channel asking me for advice. I use IHS AIS.

I'm experiencing similar anomaly in the Bay of Fundy and areas off Atlantic Coast. I use Marine Traffic on my PC (free program). Quite some time ago I purchased MT app for mobile device and same applies. (This so called "ghost imaging" surfaced only recently). I wonder if it might have something to do with signal inteference in my area.. ???
