My co-worker once told me a story about a Russian icebreaker captain who asked him "What is the name of the world's most powerful icebreaker?" My co-worker, of course, said it was Yamal, the then-latest Arktika-class nuclear icebreaker. The Russian captain's reply? "No. It's the Wind." That's what freed the icebound ships in the Antarctic this year as well...

I still find the price tag of the American icebreaker amusing. A thousand million dollars. What are they going to make it of? Titanium?

As for USCGC Polar Star, six feet at three knots is not much. For that power, you'd expect more.
