Title: Carnival Miracle Running Slow
Post by: St. Elsewhere on January 26, 2014, 11:35:41 PM
Yesterday I observed Carnival Miracle departing Nawiliwili Harbor, Lihue, Hawaii.  It took an extraordinary long time to get off the dock, turned around, and out of the harbor. In the process there were five short, whistle danger signals.  Once uderway she only made ten knots going to Honolulu.  Could it have been operating with power on just one of the Azipods?

Wind was 12 knots, there were two tugs (the same as other ships that get out of the harbor much faster), swell not an issue in the harbor and moderate at sea.  After Honolulu she was making 17 knots.  Maybe they got a problem resolve while there.
