Hi all,
just lately I came across a gem built by my favorite shipyard, J. J. Sietas here at Hamburg:
Merita (IMO 5071688), built by Sietas in 1938 and according to Equasis still in service, flag and call sign currently unknown.
Last known flag was Finland, call sign LMXA...
First name Julia, 1948 Tempo, 1956 Hansa, 1961 Christian, 1965 Lisa, and possibly since 1973 Merita.
Gross tonnage 296, L/B/D (M) 41,46 / 6,79 / 3,25
Can anyone provide some more info about her (especially her current position) or is there even a photo around somewhere?
Kind regards,
Jens

Hi Jens,
I will check IHS, (Lloyds), later tonight when I go back into the office and let you know if I find anything.
Regards, Brian.

Brian, thank you very much.
Looking forward to your reply:-)
Cheers,

Hello Jens,
but I think callsign from Finland starts with O, not with L
A callsign starting with L can be Norwegian.

Hi davidships,
thanks a lot for your info and investigation. Just where do you find websites like tsp-norway.com??? (Maybe I shouldn't search Google only for websites in German or English ::)
As to her whereabouts... sadly I was just given the info that she was broken up in November 2008 at Stord, hence the demolished wheelhouse :(
Kind regards

Hi Jens,
I just looked up the dates you require in the publication 'SCHIFFBAU AN DER ESTE' - page 46
225 BRT / 112 NRT / 300 TDW
After 1938 - presumably after 1945 - JULIA looked quite different to the picture in the a.m. book.
Hope this helps!
regards
Gottfried
