The Southern Moana is to renamed the Capitaine Wallis and has been taken over by Neptune Shipping
The Southern Fleur is to be renamed Southern Lily after she departs Auckland.
-
Morning Robbie
From what I hear in the Australian shipping news circles, these chamges result from the return of PFL's Forum Samoa II after a few years being chartered out as Opal Harmony, she is going to r/n Southern Moana for the New Caledonia / Vanuatu run. The previous Southern Moana as you say r/n's Capitaine Wallis for the NZ/Fiji trade, taking cargo previously carried by CMA CGM that now cancelled Fiji calls after the PAD service to Europe dropped back to fortnightly. Southern Lily ex Southern Fleur will cover the Tonga/Samoa trade. New new Forum Samoa III will be introduced to the Australia / Islands trades, formerly the Southern Lily 3, enabling the short-term PFL/Neptune/PDL fill-in MCP Hamburg to be returned to owners.
-
Thanks for that Brent.
I have also heard once China Nav takes over Pacifica they are planning on returning the current 2 vessels to their owners and chartering 2x 1200TEU vessels but there is no set date on when this will happen.
-

Ports of Auckland website have the "Cap Cleveland" arriving 22 September from Los Angeles. In brackets they also have the name "Kota Pelangi". Is she being taken over by PIL? Anyone know?

Stephen, PIL now taking slots on the VSA after terminating their CTP service, part of the deal they got naming rights to one vessel and Cap Cleveland to r/n Kota Penagi in Los Ageles 25-26.10. Last week the HS Bizet was r/n ANL Bindaree at Los Angeles also.
Later this month CMA CGM are switching Corcovado with Puccini between ANZEX Asia and PAD America/Europe services. Hermes returning to the service for the blank sailing.
Maersk have 5 x 4500 TEU vessels commencing a AKL/TRG - Tanjung Pelepas service later October, no specific vessel details.

-
APL will be from November stoping the KIX Service and APL will then be joining the NZX service with partners OOCL & PIL & NYK & MOL by deploying one of there 4,250-4,350teu vessel
-
Cap Cleveland was never painted in Hamburg-Sud Red from new, it has a black hull colour. No problem to change the name to a "Kota" one, paint the funnel and it will look like a PIL ship.
-
And I think PIL & HSDG funnels are near similar as well so maybe just need to paint on the PIL legend, could be a real cost-effective re-identification.
-
With the Vega Auriga being banned from Australia for 3 months the Hohebank will return to replace her on her service.
-

-
Spirit of Independence is being redelivered to China as early as this weekend then a larger vessel is due in Jan.
Regards Robbie
-
Probably less related to services. Port of Tauranga tugs Te Matua & Kaimai are expected to head down to Timaru once the 2 new tugs arrive from China early next year. This will be mainly to do with the join merger between the ports of Tauranga and Timaru.
-
Ports of Auckland has a vessel loading at Ferguson Terminal on 7 January called "BC San Francisco". It has the same export voyage number as the "Stadt Koln". There is no IMO number mentioned for the vessel as yet, so I am wondering if it may be the new name for the "Spirit of Independence".
Anyone have any ideas?

When I saw her this morning she had scaffolding over the side of her bow so she may be in the process of being renamed now. The weather here is horrible (not ideal for painting new names on the hull of ships) Once it clears I will see what I can see.
Regards Robbie
-
The Spirit of Independence is currently being renamed Tini again.
-
Re: BC San Francisco loading Fergusson Terminal 7 January.
It may be that Pacific Direct Line are replacing the "Capitaine Wallis" ex BC San Francisco. She is due in Auckland on 4 January but is not doing voyage 23N to Suva. The next voyage is 24N etd 18 January.
There has been no mention on their website of a replacement as yet, but as all the other vessels are ex PIL ships it would make sense to make the fleet uniform.
