Reef Shipping are well under way to becoming a totally independent Pacific Island Shipping company again. (see press release below).
http://www.reefship.co.nz/site/reefshipping/files/Schedules//Reef%20Shipping%20notice%20to%20shippers%20of%20independent%20Fiji%20Samoas%20Tonga%20service%20Jul%2012.pdf

The new vessel "Reef Samoa", is believed to be "Jule" ex "Southern Pasifika" IMO 9264245, that used to trade regularly between Auckland and the Pacific Islands.

The number of Pacific Island traders through Auckland is now getting to the level we used to see before containerisation.

Looking at this article (http://www.mscnewzealand.com/_library/news/notices/3599BUC.pdf) from MSC NZ website I see that Merkur Sky will leave the Kiwi Serivce and go over to the Capricorn Service as a replacement of MSC Brasilia that will go over to the Kiwi Serivce.

It looks like "MSC Brasilia" will only do one voyage on the Kiwi Service as voyages 1224 and 1226 are vessel TBA.
"Merkur Sky" may only do one northbound voyage on the Capricorn service as voyage 1240R is TBA.
She is also shown on one schedule as voyage 1237R, but that vessel is now MSC Jenny.

"Merkur Sky" will stay on the Capricorn Service. She is to be joined by "MSC Eloise" IMO 8917778. This vessel last visited NZ as "Maersk Niigata" and previously as "Arafura".
It looks like "MSC Brasilia" will also stay on the Kiwi service.

Is it my imagination, or is the Port of Auckland getting busier? Especially with conventional shipping. There seem to be a lot more bulk carriers in than there used to be.

MSC are now showing the Komodo as a replacement for the MSC Sardinia on the Capricorn Service due in October.

In addition the Merker Sky which was originally shown on their schedule has since been reported as sold for scrap.
