Am somewhat technically challenged when it comes to camera optics/settings etc. Travel lightly and use(d) a simple Powershot A2000IS (6X optical zoom/10.0 pixels) uploading photos direct (Photo size 3648X2736 - no re-sizing required). Recently changed to Powershot SX150IS** (12 optical zoom/14.1 pixels) hoping to get a little better clarity (especially for distance shots-with mono/tripod assistance.  New Photo size is  4320 X 3240  and re-sizing required (Picasa-first time user) to upload on site. I set default at max res. (4000) thinking the more pix the clearer the image. Doesn't seem to make too much of a difference.  Any suggestions as to what I can do, if anything, to improve clarity using using this type of camera, greatly appreciated.  (I've even set camera on auto/easy and let the electronics determine best setting for the scene and just shoot).
Any comments/suggestions, welcome.

Resizing photos can sometimes leave them a bit soft. I don't use Picasa but here are a couple of things that may help:

1. If you have a choice of resizing algorithms, use the highest-quality choice. There may also be a "resize sharpen" option.

2. To sharpen after resizing, look for an option called "Sharpen", Resharpen", or "Unsharp Mask". Apply using the default settings first. If it doesn't look right play around with the settings.

Hope that helps a bit.
