Hi Rick,

I will certainly try for you but as I have already stated there is a problem at the moment, several requests are in the pipeline for locations to be added one of the most prominent being New York, it is not something that I am able to do but hopefully Henrik will pick this up and give an update on the situation.

For the moment all I can suggest is to make sure the location is given in the description box.

Kind regards
Ken

Hi,

The port you have requested will be added to the list and hopefully will be added in due course, in the meantime you can upload your photographs and put the name of the port in the Description Box.

For the time being just tick unknown in the Location Box.

Welcome to the website and I hope hope enjoy it.

Kind regards

Hello,

Much time has passed since the webmasters said they would add my location, ie. Kotor, Montenegro.

When will it be?

Thank you!

Hi Dani,

As I have said it is on the list but you have to understand that there are literary hundreds of locations around the world and not just Harbours/Ports there are many other locations that have been requested, I have several of my own on the River Thames that I would like added and am patiently waiting for them.

It is hoped that this problem can be resolved but I am not entirely sure that every request can be granted because there has to be a limit to how many a drop down list can accommodate.

Until this can be done please continue to add the location in the description box.

Regards
Ken

Talking about photo date, why not use the International System of Units? Then, tomorrow would be: 121109 and August 8, 2008 would have read: 080808.

That's not right - the international standard (ISO 8601, nothing to do with ISU) is YYYYMMDD or YYYY-MM-DD, not YYMMDD.  Your first example shows why it doesn't work - you can only rely on it if you already know that the user is actually using that standard; it was also quickly discovered that year 2000 created technical problems if a date was shown as "000203".  The YYMMDD option was removed by ISO in 2004.  YYYYMMDD is not entirely unambiguous, unlike YYYY-MM-DD, but as no photos were taken before the year 1300, we needn't worry about it!

David - now back to the photos.....

May I join this thread with a another request? In most cases when I upload an analogue picture I've not been able to determine the exact date when I shot it. The recommended way to use the upload form is assuming is was on the the first day of the month. If you don't know the month either just assume is was on 01-01-19xx. Elsewhere, in similar cases, I have seen the notation 00-00-19xx, and though it's not a date, it makes more sense than a lie which I need to correct with a note: "Of course I didn't take this picture on the 1st of  January". Please consider this issue.

Regards, Anton

Antom
when I see something like the 1.Jan.19..  taken, I right away assume that it is unknown as exact date. Don,t see a reason therefore to explicit to mention that it was not on that date
