APL VANDA aground

APL VANDA aground on the Bramble Bank (sand bank) on her way into Southampton. Tugs Lomax, Phenix, Apex, Svitzer Ferriby, Svitzer Alma and Svitzer Sarah in attendance. Being joined by Svitzer Eston and Svitzer Bargate.

Meanwhile there is now a queue of four other inbound vessels off Spithead grinding to a halt, plus one in Western Solent. Expected later tonight are a good number of others.

And CMA CGM SAMSON unable to keep scheduled midnight departure for Rotterdam.

Apparently had a power failure and "parked" on the sand bank for safety. Was inbound at near low water so had an extra 4.5 metre / 6 hours of rising tide and further two hours before tide turned.
