ANL Warringa adrift off Essex coast.
« on: March 28, 2015, 09:07:07 PM »
Lifeboats have been called out to a container ship off the coast of Essex which had been reported to be drifting in a major shipping lane.

Lifeboats from Walton and Frinton, and the Harwich, were called out at about noon to the ANL Warringa.

It was reported to be drifting in the North Sea, 20 miles (32 miles) off the Essex coast, in the key route between Hamburg and the East Coast ports.

The ship has managed to get an anchor down, not far from a wind turbine.

One lifeboat is to stay with the ship, while they wait for commercial tugs to pull the ship to port.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institute said one lifeboat would stay with the ship, while they waited for commercial tugs to pull the ship to port.

The vessel was on its way to Hamburg from Tilbury.

Did wonder what happened to her. I was watching the track yesterday, Harwich lifeboat was with her then got replaced by Walton and Frinton lifeboat just after 4 in the afternoon.Force 8 going on force 9 gale too while she was drifting..wind blowing south westerly towards land.
What is over the next horizon, lets find out, hoist the mainsail.

According to an article in todays East Anglian Daily Times she lost one anchor and there was concern about the capabilities of the other in the bad weather.
