'K' Line vessel rescues crewmen in the Atlantic

JAPAN: Michigan Highway, a pure car carrier (PCC) vessel operated by a Japanese shipping company Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) rescued all four crewmen of the yacht Hunter in the Atlantic Ocean on 13 November 2014.

Previously, Hunter sent a distress signal to the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center Delgada (MRCC Delgada) in Portugal, after having a rudder trouble in the ocean.

Receiving the rescue request from the MRCC Delgada, Michigan Highway immediately headed for the position and successfully rescued all crew of the yacht without any injuries.

Later, the four crewmen had safely disembarked from the PCC in Livorno port, Italy on 20 November.

The 56,951dwt, Panama-flagged PCC vessel is steered by Captain Ognyan Stanakiev Nikolov and has a total of 23 crewmen, comprising Bulgarian and Filipino nationalities.
