Summer Meadow leave lay up
« on: November 21, 2014, 08:19:51 PM »
Summer Meadow has left the lay up berth in the River Fal today and anchored NE of the port. Destination unknown hopefully not Alang !
She has followed the Brazilian Reefer that left lay up last week for Antwerp

Hi Mike
Hopefully come to Valparaiso, Chile, now about to begin the season of fruit for export to USA
Brazilian Reefer ship has ETA at this port on December 25, the most likely to follow the same steps, you'll be informed of any new development..

Summer Flower also leaving lay up in the river Fal 28/11. Leaving one Summer boat still in lay up. I'm confused as why the Meadow is going to Castellon, can't think of a winter reefer cargo in Spain ?

Looks like she's picking up clementines from Castellon for East USA. But ATM she's heading back to Gib at 1 knot ??

SM seems to have been running along happily at 10-12kn until 0600UTC 28/10 when she quite quickly slowed. she kept heading NE until early afternoon, when slowly looped round east of Gib.  Not convinced that she is going there - AIS showing Gib destination, but that was dated yesterday morning.  We'll see!

The Summer Wind changed her destination a few months back from New Zealand to Alang !
I've watched the Meadow since leaving lay up and she's had a few NUC stops on her way South suggesting some engine trouble. Theres a couple of tugs close to her so guess she's waiting for a repair berth  ?

Excellent view of the SUMMER FLOWER on the Ijmuiden port webcam of her loading pallet cargo. I'm guessing at potatoes or onions ?
Any ideas ?

It is good to see these modern classics operating again.

Here is a link to a photograph showing Summer Bay, -Flower and -Meadow during lay-up in the River Fal this summer.
