ACL G4 RORO Containerships
« on: April 17, 2014, 11:41:48 AM »
I have just come into news of the construction of the next generation of ACL ships. We can see some obvious differences between the G3 and G4 ships. Capacity-wise, the new G4s have a container capacity of 3,800 TEUs while their predecessors only have 1800 TEUs.
These ships are larger, more efficient and best of all, greener.
They have no bulbous bow and have the superstructure smack in the centre of the vessel. Therefore cars won't drive straight into the superstructure like the last generation.
I look forward to the completion of these new ship, which is expected to take place next year, but I am concerned about what will happen to the venerable G3 ships, which have truly served the ConRO trade well.
